Shoe Designers in Singapore

If anyone had any doubts on the state of local fashion design in Singapore, a quick look at Travelshopa’s listed shops and brands, as well as our Travelshopa Blog should be enough to quell their misgivings (or so we hope!)

But one thing we haven’t touched on very much, and that most people don’t seem to know about, is: local shoe designers. And, yes, we do have our fair share of talented shoe designers who are happy to put together customised shoes for both men and women.

Of course, with the recent launch of The Art of Shoes, a contest organised by the Singapore Textile and Fashion Training Council to suss out Singapore’s next top shoe designer, we can expect a new wave of young luxury shoemakers any time soon.

Until then, though, here are some from the older guard who have established themselves well with top quality shoe designs and materials.

Ed Et Al. Possibly one of Singapore’s most well known luxury shoemakers, Ed Et Al offers three kinds of services: Made To Order, Bespoke and Recrafting. Choose from their wonderfully classy selection of designs and decide if you’d like them to be customised according to your colour of leather preference (Made To Order), handmade to your precise foot measurements for a luxurious comfort (Bespoke), or opt to have an existing Ed Et Al pair of shoes that you own and have them reconstructed to look perfectly brand new (Recrafting). With their reputation for handmade precision and top-notch quality, prepare yourself for one of the most luxurious and personal pairs of shoes you’ll ever own. Available at Fiftyfive. 55B Boat Quay. Opening Hours: Mon – Sat: 11am – 7pm.

Swagger. A hidden gem on the charming Ann Siang Hill, Swagger is the definitive men’s boutique for the discerning gentlemen. But on top of their custom-made suits, shirts and ties, they also offer handmade shoes that can be made to your personal preferences. Simply choose from their selection of leather shoes, and select the materials you’d like your pair made in, and voila! You’re good to go. 15 Ann Siang Road. Opening Hours: Mon – Sat: 11am – 8.30pm.

Swagger-SingaporeHer Glass Slipper. If you’re looking for a one-stop shop for luxury women’s shoes, Her Glass Slipper is it. But apart from your Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Emilio Pucci and Repetto designs, the luxury shoe boutique also offers a small range of in-house designs that are every bit as beautiful to look at and comfortable to wear as the next brand. The only problem is that each pair is produced in limited quantities and their in-house designs are often whipped up soon after they arrive so you better be quick if you want your hands on one! 30 Raffles Place, Chevron House, #02-26. Opening Hours: Mon – Fri: 11am – 8pm; Sat: 11am – 3pm. Her_Glass_Slipper-Singapore

The Shoemaker’s Elf. Design your dream pair of shoes with The Shoemaker’s Elf, where you get to pick the shoe style, design and look without even having to meet the storeowner! Everything can be done online through the site’s straightforward order form. But if you’re not quite sure of your choices, you can arrange to make an appointment with the shoe designers too. Plus their prices are extremely reasonable considering that each shoe is handcrafted individually to your unique taste and style.

1SOLE Asia. One problem that seriously plagues the serial travel shopper is that there never seems to be enough space in our luggage for shoes. Thankfully, 1SOLE Asia has come up with the perfect solution: one sole, with plenty of interchangeable tops. That means you only need to bring one shoe sole around, with as many shoe top designs as you wish. These tops can then be snapped on to the shoe sole as and when you wish, so you can mix and match those shoes to your outfits without a hitch.
