The local shopping scene in Singapore was shocked and saddened today to hear the immediate closure of an institution. After 5 great years, Blackmarket No.2 has suddenly been forced to close its doors at #02-10 Orchard Central by centre management.
Blackmarket has gained a name for itself by supporting some of the best local and international emerging designers Singapore has seen.
Given Blackmarket was founded on the ideals of enriching and incubating the new creative talent crop within South East Asia, we don’t doubt for a second that this is ‘lights out’ for Blackmarket in Singapore. Having just opened Blackmarket No. 3 in Ho Chi Minh City, and knowing the drive of Managing Director, Jasmine Tuan, we expect to see Blackmarket pop up again. “Although we can’t continue in the vicinity, we are planning to rethink our strategy for this coming months and formulate an effective way of dealing with high-cost of rental in Singapore.” Ms Tuan claimed in a statement released today.
We wait with bated breath for the next chapter and will keep our community in the know. In the meantime you can still shop Blackmarket online.
